Book process included 4 process zines. Above are spreads from the first zine, a visual essay. I was challenged going forward to explore alternative modes of image making, which resulted in a future exploration in collage.
Spreads from second zine, an interview. This zine helped significantly with my understanding of typesetting. I was challenged to refine my typography going forward to fix errors (rivers, widows, and orphans).
Taxonomy of final book is split up into four sections (articles, interviews, academic essays, and manifestos/songs) that are each treated differently typographically and visually, while adhering to a standard grid throughout. Above are sample typographic spreads for academic essays. In my final book, I pulled elements from all 3 compositions to form the typographic layout.
Sample spreads for articles which informed the layout of the final book.
Sample spreads for manifestos/songs which informed the layout of the final book.
Original book map for third zine. Third zine is much like the final zine (above) – although I was encouraged to revisit my pacing and layout of the book as a whole in the final.
Final book map that reflects current pacing. For the final version, the visual essay is scattered throughout book to create even flow and tell a visual story throughout.
